PIRATES!!

It is Background Knowledge week for Pirates! We have been learning all about pirate ships, shipwrecks, and treasure! We are making props, reading books, dramatizing pretend pirate scenarios, and asking great questions to prepare for our Magic Tree House book (Pirates Past Noon) next week. 

We learned how to draw pirates, then thought about what they might say and gave them speech bubbles!

We are beginning our transition away from dramatizing and into "literacy centers." Each group will still dramatize the story once a week, but we will also incorporate games like I Have Who Has, and Look and Remember (see below). We also started building words with word patterns (ask what _ing and_et words we can make!) and listening to stories at Listening Center!

We are also working on rhyming. We are getting pretty good!! Check out our rhyming monsters!!
